Total Solar Eclipse, Waco, Texas
By Luca Vanzella

The long awaited replacement for the cancelled 2020 eclipse tour took us to San Antonio, Texas for the Apr 8, 2024 eclipse which we viewed from Waco. The south-western United States were under a storm system that kept hanging around in the week leading up to eclipse day. The forecasts kept calling for the system to cloud out most of Texas but there was a faint hope since Waco was always on the edge of the slowly moving system. Apr 7 was quite clear, Apr 8 had passing clouds all day, and Apr 9 was a total downpour. We got lucky and were able to see about 75% of totality with a stupendous second diamond ring.

Totality through the passing clouds.
The eclipse chasers.
